A curfew has been extended for Binduri Township and surrounding areas in the Upper East Region, as announced by the Ministry of the Interior. Acting on the National Security Council’s advice and through an Executive Instrument, the curfew hours are now set from 5:00 PM to 6:00 AM, effective Tuesday, December 16, 2025.
The government calls on local Chiefs, Elders, opinion leaders, youths, and all residents to stay calm amid ongoing challenges and to pursue peace through peaceful, non-violent approaches that channel energy constructively.
Additionally, a total prohibition remains in force for Binduri Township and nearby communities: no one may possess arms, ammunition, or any offensive weapons; motorbikes are restricted; and individuals wearing smocks (work attire) are also prohibited in public spaces. Anyone found with weapons or ammunition will be arrested and prosecuted.
