London's Euston Station Faces a Day of Disruption: Overhead Line Failure Causes Train Cancellations
London commuters are facing a challenging start to their day as an overhead line failure disrupts train services across multiple routes. The issue is particularly affecting Avanti West Coast and London Northwestern Railway lines, with several cancellations and delays.
The disruption began on Friday morning, causing some trains in and out of London Euston to be canceled. The problem lies in the overhead line equipment, which has failed, leading to a halt in services between London Euston and Watford Junction. This disruption is expected to persist throughout the day, with Network Rail confirming that repairs cannot commence until later this evening, allowing them to safely access the railway and complete the necessary work.
Despite the ongoing issues, Londoners can take comfort in the fact that the Tube and Overground services are generally running smoothly. However, minor delays have been reported on the District line, with a faulty train at Upney causing delays for Barking to Earl's Court westbound travelers. The Central line has also experienced some delays, with a faulty train at Holborn causing minor delays for Leytonstone to White City westbound commuters.
Additionally, road users and bus services are facing delays on the A12, with average delays of five to seven minutes on Ardleigh Green Road, Gubbins Lane, and Gooshays Drive. The A10 Great Cambridge Road is also closed due to a vehicle collision, further impacting commuters' journeys.
As the day progresses, Londoners will need to remain vigilant and plan their journeys accordingly, as the disruption at Euston Station is expected to persist until the necessary repairs are completed.
