Are you thrilled, or feeling a little flat? The January 2026 lineup for PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium games has arrived, and it's time to weigh in! Sony's subscription service is kicking off the year with a bang... at least for some tiers. Let's dive in!
First up, PS Plus Extra is making a strong impression with a roster of eight games. This includes the critically acclaimed Resident Evil Village. Capcom's strategic move places you right in the heart of survival horror, werewolf battles, and sets the stage perfectly for the upcoming Resident Evil Requiem.
Following suit, Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth is another highlight, arriving just before the launch of Yakuza 3 Kiwami next month. This latest installment in the Like a Dragon / Yakuza series is a sprawling RPG that's as wild as it is wonderful. It's a massive title, and we highly recommend it, especially if you're already a fan of the series.
Venturing into different genres, Expeditions: A MudRunner Game offers a unique experience with tactical journey planning across challenging terrains, while A Quiet Place: The Road Ahead plunges you back into survival horror.
And the variety doesn't stop there! Darkest Dungeon 2 is a brutally engaging dungeon crawler, The Exit 8 provides an eye-opening indie experience, and Art of Rally offers a feel-good racing experience. It's a diverse selection, to say the least.
But here's where it gets controversial... The Premium tier's offerings, however, seem a bit light. Only one game is included: Ridge Racer, a classic from the original PlayStation. It's a beloved title, no doubt, but it's a solitary offering on the most expensive PS Plus tier.
So, what's your verdict on this month's PS Plus Extra and Premium selections? Are you excited, or left wanting more? What do you think about the value proposition of the different tiers? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below! Did Sony make the right call with these games?
